Dr. Andrew Rogers
Consultant Clinical & Forensic Psychologist & Co-Founder
Andy is a Chartered Consultant Clinical & Forensic Psychologist and Co-Director of Changing Minds UK, with over 25 years of experience delivering high-quality psychological services. His career has spanned the NHS, social care, mental health, youth justice, elite sport, and business sectors—working across the age span, but with particular expertise in working with children, young people, young adults and families.
Andy is especially passionate about helping young people who have experienced trauma, adversity, or disrupted attachments. He has led and developed specialist psychological services in community, residential, hospital, and secure settings, supporting children and adolescents with complex mental health needs and high-risk behaviours. Before setting up Changing Minds and moving into independent practice in 2014, Andy was the lead psychologist in a nationally recognised NHS adolescent forensic mental health service.
Andy has also played a key role in shaping national approaches to trauma-informed care. As a National Clinical Advisor, Andy supported the development of The Framework for Integrated Care—a psychologically-informed, trauma-responsive framework for young people across secure and community settings. His consultancy work, both in the UK and internationally, focuses on service development, trauma-responsive systems, youth justice, and care-experienced children.
Andy’s work is grounded in an understanding of how relationships, trauma, and threat shape development, resilience, and wellbeing. He believes in the power of psychological insight to unlock potential—not just for individuals, but for teams and organisations too.
Alongside his work with young people, Andy also supports high-performance leaders and elite athletes, helping them build resilience and thrive under pressure. He is committed to ethical, strengths-based practice and to nurturing the potential within people and systems.
Andy is a published author, experienced speaker, and visiting lecturer at several UK universities. He regularly presents at national and international conferences and has appeared on TV and radio to promote psychological understanding of mental health and human development. He also provides clinical supervision to a wide range of professionals and psychologists in training.
Outside of work, Andy enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, reading, and participating in and watching sport—especially football and horse racing.
