Abbie Garrett

Abbie is an Assistant Psychologist who has been working at Changing Minds since September 2022. She holds a BPS accredited undergraduate degree in Psychology and a masters in MSc Developmental Disorders.  


As part of her role, Abbie supports different members of the CMCAFS team and enjoys working directly with young people and their families. Abbie values being able to use creatively to ensure that she is adapting her approach based on individual need. In her work she draws on a range of therapeutic models such as Compassion Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (under the supervision of a clinical psychologist). Abbie has also completed her level 1 Theraplay® training and enjoys embedding these principles and playfulness into her work.  


Abbie has a special interest in neurodevelopment and working with looked after children (along with the teams around them). Where possible, Abbie likes to get involved in research projects and is currently supporting with research around a mother and baby group for care experienced young people.
