The HEARTS Project

Partnership

Liverpool City Council and the Liverpool Virtual School

The CMCAFS team proudly partnered with Liverpool City Council and the Liverpool Virtual School to develop the HEARTS Project, a transformative initiative dedicated to building
the capacity of Liverpool schools to embed Attachment and Trauma Responsive Care across entire school communities.

Collaborating closely with headteachers and leaders citywide, our team led the development of the psychological framework of care to guide the project’s delivery. Throughout the programme, we provided ongoing psychological supervision to senior leaders, supporting reflective practice and sustainable change.

In addition, CMCAFS designed and delivered an 18-month training programme for participating schools, equipping educators with the knowledge and skills to foster trauma-responsive environments.

The Liverpool HEARTS Project has been celebrated both locally and nationally as a beacon
of excellence in education. It stood out from thousands of nominations to win the prestigious 2023 National Pearson Award (Gold) for Impact Through Partnership, an achievement featured on the BBC, as well as a distinguished National ARC Award.
